Welcome to the Internet home of the Greater Puget Sound Chapter of the Association for Healthcare Documentation (AHDI) - (formerly known as the American Association for Medical Transcription -- AAMT). GPSC became a component association in November 1997 with the mission of bringing together MTs in our area. It is the goal of our chapter to enhance and advance the profession of medical transcription by involving MTs on a local and national level. Our chapter provides opportunities to network with other MTs and healthcare professionals, to exchange information, to keep abreast of current issues influencing our profession, and to attend continuing educational sessions. Our chapter has the honor and privilege to say that our membership includes many MTs with vast experience in the field as well as distinguished local, state, and national leaders (including many CMTs, AHDI-Fs, the 2004 and 2005 state presidents, state board members, state delegates, members of the national AHDI board of directors, and the 2005 national AHDI president). This group has a vast amount of collective experience, but the best quality of the group is that we welcome new members and student members with open arms.

Here are some of the benefits that GPSC members enjoy:

  • Free monthly meetings with exciting guest speakers and educational sessions.
  • A free quarterly newsletter (in association with AHDI-WA).
  • Members-only access to Yahoo Groups-an open forum for the discussion of medical transcription-related topics and the exchange of information (i.e., someone looking for vacation coverage, possible job leads, quick answers to questions on medical terminology, grammar, and a host of other questions that arising when transcribing).

Take a few moments to browse through our calendar, links and membership information. Feel free to drop us a line if you have any questions, and feel free to come to a meeting as our guest to find out more about the group.

General meeting info: Most meetings of the GPSC are on Saturdays. We usually meet monthly except during the months of July and August. Some meetings are special events in lieu of regular general membership meetings. Please check our calendar for current dates, locations, and to check for any schedule changes. Our regular meetings always feature great topics and speakers and are open to both GPSC members and nonmembers. Networking starts at 9:30 AM, the meetings start at 10:00, and light refreshments are provided. Our regular meetings are held at Group Health Eastside Primary Care Clinic (in Classroom FA06 downstairs) in Redmond, WA (next to the Group Health hospital--click on the link for directions).
